Parish Church Restoration

Nave floor
Limestone floor

Viewed through the persepex window,
the nave looked very bare without the
floor. The work was held up by
some discoveries under the floor which
archaeologists needed to assess.

In the centre of the picture is the railway
which made relatively easy work
transporting materials in and out of the church.

The main heating pipes
were installed in masonry channels.

A glass-based layer of
chippings was spread as
the first of three layers
aimed at projecting the
under-floor heating
upwards into the church.

Finally, the limestone blocks
were delivered and began
to be positioned.
It wasn't too long
before the nave was fully
restored with a warm-
looking and warm-feeling
stone floor, set to last
for hundreds of years to
come!
